GREAT RANGE ATHLETE is dedicated to equipping hikers and outdoor adventurers with the strength and stamina required for the mountainous journey ahead.

We understand the ideal preparation for climbing mountains is by climbing mountains. Yet for most hikers the mountains are out of daily reach. Our training programs offer the next best option, preparing your legs and lungs for your backcountry adventures.

Specifically designed to emulate the rigors of the trail, our programs strategically condition your body, honing the endurance, strength, and tenacity needed to navigate the Adirondacks’ demanding terrain with confidence.

TARGETED TRAINING PLANS

Each week, you’ll receive a new set of workouts specifically designed to build the mountain strength and endurance needed for effective hiking and outdoor adventures. These plans include strength days, backpack rucking, and circuit training

WEEKLY COACHING CALLS

Connect with your teammatess and coaches via Zoom every week. These sessions cover your training progress, discuss nutritional strategies on and off the trail, and explore topics related to hiking and the great outdoors.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Access to an exclusive group accountability thread where you can share your progress, challenges, and get support from fellow teammates and your coach, James Appleton.

TEAM HIKES

At the completion of every 6-week program the team will schedule a group hike in the Adirondacks.

MARCY PROGRAM

Our flagship 8-week program designed for people with access to a full commercial gym.
Become strong and powerful on the mountain and look good doing it!

CASCADE BODYWEIGHT & BACKPACK PROGRAM

A 6-week bodyweight program you can do outdoors, on a mountain, or in your living room
using just your bodyweight and hiking pack.

DISMAL WILDERNESS 21-DAY INTENSIVE

A 21-Day in-a-row intensive program to whip people into shape for their upcoming hiking trip.
Utilizes bodyweight circuits, dumbbells, and rucking challenges.

GOTHICS-HYBRID PROGRAM

An 8-week hybrid program that builds hiking strength, muscle, and peak physical endurance using minimal equipment. This program requires a few sets of dumbbells, your hiking pack, and some grit.
