WHAT ARE THEY?

The Adirondack 46 High Peaks are a group of mountains in New York State's Adirondack Park that are above 4,000 feet in elevation.

HIKING CHALLENGE

Summit all 46 to become an "Adirondack 46er". Give back to the mountains by joining the Adirondack 46ers organization upon completion.

TRAILHEADS

There are many trailheads and route options throughout the High Peaks

MILEAGE & ELEVATION

An average day hiking in the High Peaks will be around 16 miles with 3,800' of elevation gain. Twenty mile days are common.

TRAILS

Adirondack trails are known to be rugged and ascend straight up the mountain. Adequate gear, fitness, and preparation is paramount.

CAMPING

There are 11,668 legal campsites in the Adirondack Park. Camping is prohibited over 3500' elevation, on any summit, or within 150' of a trail, road, or water source unless at a designated campsite.

FIRES

Campfires are illegal in the eastern High Peaks wilderness. They are only permitted in designated campfire pits.
